Lockdown. I don’t remember hearing this term so often. Something just happens and you are stuck inside your houses for a good 3 months. Almost every country across the globe is shut. Streets are empty. Shops are closed. Flights are seldom taking off. Restaurants, saloons, gymnasiums are literally banned. This shall pass, as they say. Storms have to go and you have to live through them. Storms or any natural or man made calamity might take a few days or weeks to get over with. But this is totally different. This is not any ordinary blow. This is a wildfire of novel coronavirus that nobody had every thought of.
Who had thought of this new world which is going on a warfront that too not fighting against each other? Covid-19 has compelled us to be together and fight with the deadly virus. That’s what a pandemic is all about. Let’s put aside the reasons and blames. Let’s think it from the human’s perspective.
Some are saying that the planet is on the reset mode. Undoubtedly, the quality of environment is certainly improving. Pollution level is dropping. We can call that as a blessing in disguise. But then what about us, humans. We wish each other to stay safe. But the hidden message is to stay away. Stay away from a fellow human. Stay away from the coronavirus. Sad but true. This practise is the need of the time.
These are the times when everyone needs their own space. Space is less physical and more psychological. It’s within our heads. We don’t want to be disturbed when we choose to be in the company of ourselves. This is the space. Now, this is the beauty of it. Humans want spaces, yet they invented the most talked about phenomena called the internet. This miraculous thing has awarded the much wanted space yet provided the need to be connected with each other. Internet is the perfect thing what the modern world needed.
Man is the social animal. It’s a not a chauvinist statement. It’s about human. We humans like to live in herds. We are not independent though we claim we are. We need fellow humans to help us at every pace. All we can do independently is breath. For everything else, someone somewhere has been working for us.
Food, Shelter & Clothes. They are our basic necessities. But I haven’t seen anyone fulfilling those on their own, at least in the urban areas. People need people to get their things done and then the same people need people to buy the things they offer. It’s a well knit system where groups of people have gotten trained with certain skill sets so that they can provide for other people who need them. Earlier we used to have barter economy where villagers would serve each other and get the services as the price. It was a very healthy exchange. In modern times, we deal in currencies and buy products or services.
But now, the world is not the same post Covid-19. We need to look at everything suspiciously. This is unfortunate. But it’s the fact. Businesses have to announce their buyers that everything that they are offering is safe and hygienic. This is a new thing. And what else can be more effective than a video. The trends in the recent past had already shown the rise in the videos. But this pandemic has put videos in the top of the order. People have started searching as the best video makers or the best video production company or the best video advertising company. These are new trends. We can call it an opportunity.
Earlier we used to make videos to sell the qualities, features or offers. The time has come where we need to make videos to sell the hygiene quotient. We’ve made multiple videos at our video production house for such purpose. At the same time, there’s this interesting fact that I came across. Recently we’ve made a TV Commercial (a television video advertisement) for a popular tuition classes in Latur. This is not the animated marketing videos we are talking about. This is lockdown and nobody can shoot with the actors. So, most of the videos are being made with the help of images and graphics. But this one, in particular, was made in a live action format where there’s a story and the actors.
This video for www.kaushalyacademy.com was made with the available footage. We created the story with the help of stock footage from www.shutterstock.com. It’s based on the theme of sports and we’ve related it with the importance of personalised coaching which is the USP of our client. It’s indeed a different experience. The video advertisement we’ve made could be thought of making with the actors and proper set up in other times. But I must say, it has come out well. It ran for a few days on ABP Majha and it’s hitting the target perfectly.
Well, it’s a new normal. Problems are a part of an entrepreneur’s life. You need to stay put. But as a Video Content Strategist, I must say these are the times one can make the most with videos. Even when things will be back to normal and we’ll be advertising for features and qualities, one thing is for sure that video is going to be the driving force of your marketing planning. Video creators will have to unleash their imaginations and come up with interesting video content for their clients.
